Tertiary Literature
The final stage of the information cycle is the tertiary literature which summarizes a
nd points to the primary literature only after it has become widely accepted and believed. Examples of tertiary literature include: handbooks, encyclopedias, and textbooks. Reference works, such as dictionaries and encyclopedias, contain information that has been summarized from primary and secondary sources and can appear many years after the original publications on a subject.
Examples of tertiary literature which provide information about the Fluid Mosaic Model include:
- Your class textbook
- Cell membrane entry in Wikipedia
