Borrowing
Request Items in the Library Catalogue
- Retrieve local library books using the call number locations and sign them out at the Circulation desk, or use Locations & Requests link to request books from any library location in the catalogue and choose any of the on-campus library locations for pick-up.
- Submit a cataloging request for a new, unprocessed book in the catalogue urgently needed for current research. Use Locations & Requests link.
- Request scanned copies of print articles from any library location in the catalogue and have them delivered via email, as copyright and licensing permit. Use Request an article link below the record. For help with Sign-in, click the tab First Time Users, then click Waterloo.
- Request scanned copies of book segments from any library location in the catalogue and have them delivered via email, as copyright and licensing permit. Use RACER link from the top menu on the right.
Items or scans are delivered within 1-3 business days; cataloguing requests take 5 business days.
Request Items Not in the Library Catalogue
If you can't find the item you want in the Library catalogue you can request the item through RACER interlibrary loan service. In the catalogue, click the link in the top menu.

Borrowing Privileges
Proxy Card Request
- The Library can issue a
proxy
card to a registered faculty or staff member to allow a designate to borrow and access material on
his/her behalf.
